Animal Habitats & Museums

At Rockscapes of Canada, we specialize in creating immersive animal habitats and themed environments for zoos, science centres, and museums across North America. Our artificial rockwork is designed not only for stunning realism but also for unmatched durability, built to withstand the elements, heavy use, and the test of time.

For over four decades, we’ve crafted waterfalls, cliffs, caves, trees, and landscapes that seamlessly blend artistry with engineering. Many of our exhibits remain just as strong and vibrant 40 years later, continuing to provide safe, enriching spaces for animals and unforgettable experiences for visitors.

Whether it’s transforming a zoo habitat into a naturalistic home, shaping an aquarium into an underwater world, or designing a museum exhibit that brings history and science to life, our work endures—connecting people to nature through craftsmanship that lasts for generations.

HOW WE BUILT IT

Toronto Zoo

Gorilla Habitat

At the Toronto Zoo’s award-winning gorilla habitat, Rockscapes of Canada transformed structural supports into towering artificial trees and sprawling root systems. Hand-sculpted and painted to replicate the rainforest, our work created a natural jungle gym for the gorillas—blending durability, functionality, and artistry to give visitors and animals an authentic rainforest experience.

Rock Theming

At the London Children’s Museum, Rockscapes of Canada created a series of immersive exhibits that spark imagination and discovery. From towering artificial rock caves and climbing walls to a sprawling stream and a dinosaur dig pit inspired by the Canadian Badlands, each feature was designed to be interactive, educational, and larger than life. Our craftsmanship turns play into adventure, making the museum a place where children can explore, learn, and connect with the natural world.

Fort Edmonton

Rock Theming

At Fort Edmonton Park, Rockscapes of Canada built over 20 lifelike faux trees and extensive artificial rockwork to create a truly immersive historical environment. The realism of our craftsmanship was so convincing that a woodpecker once attempted to peck into one of our trees—only to break its beak against the concrete surface. From hand-carved stone facades to towering trees, every detail was designed to transport visitors back in time while blending durability with artistry at one of Canada’s premier living history attractions.
